The Asian Football Confederation has moved the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia from January to December.
It blamed “exceptional circumstances” in the region, along with travel problems and logistics.
The tournament was due to run from January 7 to February 5, 2027.
The new dates are December 23, 2027 to January 21, 2028.
The AFC still needs FIFA to approve the change.
The move follows Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, which have led to several big sporting events being cancelled or postponed.
Local organisers had said last month that the tournament was on schedule.
Jeddah, Riyadh and Al Khobar were set to host the matches.
