The Sokoto State Government has sealed an African Democratic Congress campaign office in the state.

It says the building belongs to Savannah Bank.

Commissioner for Lands and Housing Nasiru Dantsoho announced the seal on Monday while leading officials to the site.

He said the move followed a recent clash between supporters of different parties, when some people reportedly came to the office and disrupted another party’s activities.

Dantsoho stated that the government reviewed the certificate of occupancy and other papers, which still list Savannah Bank as the owner.

The state has written to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, which is the custodian of the building, to find out who has control of it.

The government is waiting for a reply.

He said the seal will stay until further notice to protect lives and property.

Anyone who claims ownership must bring documents for checking, and anyone who enters without permission will face action, including prosecution.

The ADC has not yet responded officially.

Reports say the move follows allegations that its supporters were attacked by operatives of the state’s security outfit.
