Four reasons Osimhen should choose Arsenal over Chelsea

Despite playing a key role in Napoli winning their first Serie A title in 33 years, it seems more and more likely that the Italian giants will have to cash in on their Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window.

Although Osimhen has enjoyed a good start to the new season, with six goals and one assist in his first 10 games, the player’s relationship with the club’s hierarchy has deteriorated to the point that both parties now seem intent on going their separate ways.

Osimhen has been heavily linked with moves to some of Europe’s top clubs and one of them is Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal.

While Chelsea appears to be ahead in the pursuit of Osimhen’s signature, according to reports, here are four reasons why Arsenal will be a better choice for Osimhen.

Arsenal is a more settled team
Joining Arsenal should not be a problem for Osimhen as he would be a part of a side that is already settled.

The majority of the players who almost won the Premier League for Arsenal last season are still in the team.

To mount a serious challenge to the title in this campaign, Mikel Arteta brought in Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, and Kai Havertz.

Before his injury in the first game of the season against Nottingham Forest, Timber had already shown that he was already at home in the team.

Big money signing, Rice, has fit in very nicely that the influential Thomas Partey, who is currently out injured, is hardly missed.

While Havertz is beginning to find his feet in the team after scoring in back-to-back games for the Gunners.

So adding Osimhen to this Arsenal team would be a welcome development as they push for the Premier League title.

Osimhen will be the focal point of Arsenal’s attack

At the moment Arsenal have only Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus to lead the line as the lone striker in their 4-3-3 system.

It is no news that despite the abilities of Nketiah and Jesus, both have not been clinical in fron of goal and neither of them would be a competition for Osimhen.

Nketiah currently has five goals in 19 appearances while Jesus has contributed same number of goals as Nketiah (5) in 13 games in all competitions.

For Osimhen, he has managed to score six goals in 12 games despite having to deal with injury issues.

Arsenal, a more rounded team for Osimhen to flourish
If there is one area Osimhen will benefit immensely if he eventually joins Arsenal it is playing with teammates who can provide assists.

At Napoli, the chief assist provider is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who contributed a lot to Osimhen winning the Golden Boot.

But at Arsenal, there are more players who can create goal scoring chances, players like Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli.

Even the likes of Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard can set up scoring opportunities for teammates.

With a striker like Osimhen, who can convert even half chances, he will definitely thrive playing in this current Arsenal side.

Premier League title contenders
Another reason why Arsenal is more suitable for Osimhen is that it is a team that is capable of challenging for the league title.

The Gunners were so close to landing the league title last season before eventually losing out to Manchester City.

This season, they have shown that they have what it takes to have a go at it again. They are current top-toppers in the Premier League.

This should be an attractive part of the Arsenal project for Osimhen as someone who successfully spearheaded Napoli’s title winning push in the Serie A.
