FUTA students protest incessant robbery attacks

Students of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State have protested what they described as incessant robbery attacks against them off the campus of the institution.

The protesters on Friday barricaded the busy Akure-Ilesa Expressway, causing gridlock on the major road.

The students, singing various solidarity songs, noted that the staged protest was to seek the intervention of the management of the institution, government, and security agencies to rescue them from the activities of the bandits.

Speaking of the protest, the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami, said operatives of the command had been deployed in the area to ensure the protest was not hijacked by hoodlums, adding that the police will look into the issue.
