The Nigeria Labour Congress has rejected a last minute overture by the Federal Government to abort its planned protest over economic hardship in the country.
The President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, made this known on Monday night after a meeting at the State House, Abuja.
Ajaero said after the meeting chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume: “The rally goes on but it is part of their (security agencies) constitutional responsibility to make sure that the rally is peaceful, while we are going to try on our own side to make sure it is peaceful.
“Usually, there is no rally that we just do for the sake of walking around.
“We have demands that we present.

“Maybe by Tuesday when we present these demands, a copy of it will be made public.”
Others at the stalemated meeting included the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Ministers of Labour, Agriculture, Finance, Budget and Planning; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; and President of the Trade Union Congress, Festus Osifo.
