Ondo 2024: Boroffice, Akoko leaders drum support for Aiyedatiwa

Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Akoko South-West area of Ondo State have declared their support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s ambition to contest for the party’s governorship ticket.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed April 2024 for parties to hold their primaries.

The governorship election is fixed for November this year.

The scores of party stalwarts gathered at Oka Akoko Town Hall, Oka, on Sunday to declare their support for Aiyedatiwa and urged him to contest and lead the people of Ondo state beyond 2024.

Speaking at the meeting, a former Deputy Majority Leader and three term Senator at the National Assembly, Senator. Ajayi Boroffice, assured the people that Aiyedatiwa would deliver dividends of democracy.

Boroffice, represented by former House of Representative member, Hon. Ade Adeogun, appealed to members of the party to be wary of saboteurs and deceitful elements in the party as the state goes into election this year.

Highlighting the performance of Aiyedatiwa in just few days he took over, the former Deputy Majority Leader said that the governor has good plans for the party and the state as a whole.

“The giant strides of Gov. Aiyedatiwa in the payment of salaries to civil servants, gratuity to pensioners, construction of roads, sanitising the state through the Ministry of Environment as well as his interventions in education within the short time shows he will do well,” he said.

Boroffice also appreciated the governor for appointing their illustrious sons into various positions and demanded more for the people.

According to him, the acceptance of Aiyedatiwa ‘s political aspiration by members of the party across the 15 wards of the local government was a positive indication for the governor’s ambition.

He extolled the governor’s positive judgment and discretion in piloting the affairs of the state since the demise of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the meeting was also graced by former Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Olabimtan and Special Adviser to the governor on Information and Strategy, Hon. Olugbenga Omole and Special Adviser on Energy, Johnson Alabi.

Other party chieftains present were; Chief Victor Ategbole,  Tolu Babaleye,  Felix Alonge,  Sehinde Mise,  Ope Igbede and  Tony Jayeola,  Stephen Adeyeri among others.
