The Lagos State Government has appealed to motorists and residents to be patient and understanding given the current inconveniences caused by traffic disruptions resulting from the maintenance work on various bridges across the state, including the Kodesoh Bridge in Ikeja.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, made the appeal on Thursday in the Ikeja area.
Daramola said this when he inspected the ongoing works on Kodesoh Bridge in Ikeja Local Government Area.

He said that the inconvenience was temporary and necessary for long-term safety and bridge quality.
Daramola appealed to the contractors to work diligently and efficiently to complete the project within the specified time frame.
Kodesoh Bridge was closed to traffic on February 4.
The closure will last till March 4, 2024.
Daranola said: “The Government is committed to the timely delivery of the project and is not unmindful of the inconvenience the maintenance works would have on commuters.
“We appeal for patience and cooperation from the motoring public.
“The asphaltic work and the replacement of the joints has been scheduled for completion in about 15 days.”
According to Daramola, the closure is necessitated by the failure of the expansion joints on the bridge.
He added: “There are two sections in which the expansion joints are bad and needed to be replaced to avoid further deterioration.
“In addition, other access roads, from Awolowo Way and Oba Akran, inward and outward, are open to motorists.
“We assure you that traffic management personnel will be deployed to the affected routes to minimise inconveniences and control traffic flow.”
Daramola noted that there were similar bridges in the state that needed infrastructure upgrades, which the government had plans to address in phases.
He said: “For instance, the Ojota Bridge is one of them, the Asolo Bridge is one of them, and the Oke-afa Bridge was reinstated over the weekend.
“In addition to this, there are lots of pedestrian bridges that have problems and the one at Ojodu Berger Bus Stop has been reinstated and it is going to be a continuous process.”
He also acknowledged the ongoing maintenance work on the Third Mainland Bridge, a major traffic artery in Lagos, assuring that traffic management personnel would be deployed to minimise inconvenience.
