Teenagers docked over alleged N5 million cable theft
Two teenagers on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing electrical wire cables worth N5 million.
The Police charged the defendants with conspiracy and stealing, though the teenagers pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between December 2023 and January 2024 at Pipeline Road, Oke-Odo, Lagos State.
Ajayi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the defendants and others now at large stole electrical wire cables valued at N5 million belonging to the complainant, Alhaji Sodiq Oluwaseun.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, E. Kubeinje, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

She said the sureties must be gainfully employed, one of each of them must be a blood relation and proof of tax payments and verification of addresses should be provided.
Kubeinje adjourned the case until February 27 for mention.
