Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appointed retired Lieutenant Colonel Rabi’u Yandoto as the State Commandant of the newly-established Community Protection Guards, a local security outfit.

The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, revealed this on Friday in Gusau.

Nakwada, in a statement he issued, also said two retired Majors: Muhammad Adamu and Ahmed Shinkafi, would serve as Deputy and Assistant State Commandants respectively.

Adamu will be in charge of administration, while Shinkafi will be responsible for logistics, he said.

“Among the appointees are the Guards Commanders for the 14 Local Government Areas of the state,” the SSG added.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 2,645 members of the CPG were recently trained and deployed for community policing duties across the state.
