2026: 7 Governors Storm Ekiti For Oyebanji Re-election Campaign Flag-off

The re-election campaign of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, and her deputy, Monisade Christianah Afuye, was yesterday kick-started, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, expressing confidence that the 20 June governorship poll was already in the ruling party’s pocket.

In his speech on Monday at the official flag-off of the Campaign organised by the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council held at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Yilwatda expressed optimism that Oyebanji would win the polls on the strength of his giant strides in every sector of the state in less than four years.

Dwelling on the achievement, Governor Oyebanji said, “Oyebanji has won already, for the peace you brought to the state, for bringing everyone to Ekiti today, I commend you. For bringing the former Governors together, for building bridges, and for schools, you have done well.

“On behalf of the National Working Committee of APC, we stand today to say the election has already been won. We will go from ward to ward, village to village, street to street, everywhere to declare that he will win”.

Governors present at the events include Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, Edo State Senator Monday Okpebholo, Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Kaduna Governor Uba Sani, Nigeria Mohammed Bago, and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Ekiti former Ekiti Governors in attendance are Dr Kayode Fayemi, Ayodele Fayose, Chief Segun Oni, Niyi Adebayo,

Other APC stalwarts who grace the event include the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; National Secretary, Senator Akinola Basiru; National Vice-Chair, South, Dr Isaac Kekemeke; National Financial Secretary, Haruna Gisar; National Treasurer, Mathew Uguru; and Senator Biodun Olujimi, among others.

Governor Oyebanji said his government has positively impacted the lives of the people with the assistance of the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government, adding that it will do more after his re-election.

While urging the people to go out on election day and cast their votes for Oyebanji, which will translate into voting for President Bola Tinubu, whom he said has been kind and good to Ekiti state.

“The only thing we can do to show appreciation to Tinubu is to come to the poll on 20 June to secure at least 500,000 votes for our party”.

The Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, said the event is not just a campaign flag-off, but a renewal of the covenant between the leadership and the people of the state.

According to him, “This election is about consolidation,  building and moving forward. Ekiti election is a clear stage for the presidential election and a referendum for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu”.
