No fewer than 2,300 National Youth Service Corps members were, on Friday, sworn in for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 orientation programme in Anambra State.
The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, in an address at the orientation ceremony, said the number comprised 1,080 males and 1,220 females.
Ojisua said all camp facilities and logistics had been put in place to ensure a smooth and impactful exercise.
“The orientation course is the foundation of the one-year national service.
“Corps members will undergo a three-week programme, designed to instill discipline, patriotism, teamwork and other competencies required for nation-building.
“Activities, such as military drills, physical training and sports will also enhance physical fitness, mental alertness and team spirit among corps members,” Ojisua said.
She also highlighted the importance of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme lined up for the corps members, saying it would equip participants with practical skills for self-reliance after service.
She congratulated them on their deployment to Anambra and urged them to abide by NYSC rules, as well as all the security guidelines.
In an address, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo urged the corps members to render dedicated service to Anambra and the nation.
Ojisua also charged the youths to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of their families and institutions.
Soludo, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Ifeatu Emeodi, commended the NYSC leadership at the national and state levels.
He also praised the state coordinator and her management team for their dedication and professionalism and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the continuous upgrade of facilities at the camp to provide a safe, conducive and enabling environment for corps members.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state Chief Judge, Justice O. M. Anyachebelu, represented by Justice A. O. Nwabunike, administered the oath of allegiance on the corps members.
