In a significant leap towards modernising public sector governance, the Federal Character Commission (FCC) has launched an integrated digital platform.
This initiative is designed to bolster transparency, accountability and compliance monitoring of over 700 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The event, which took place yesterday at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall in Abuja, came less than 100 days into the tenure of the 5th commission, drew an influential audience from the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary, underscoring the national weight of the commission’s digital shift.
In her opening address, the executive chairman of the FCC, Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, described the launch as a defining moment in the commission’s reform journey and a strategic alignment with global standards of public sector governance.
“We are gathered here not only to unveil a digital platform, but to witness a decisive step forward in the modernisation of the Federal Character Commission’s communication and service delivery framework,” Hon. Omidiran said.
“The new official website provides a unified, accessible, and user-friendly platform through which the public can engage more effectively with the Commission, while enhancing visibility and operational efficiency.
This initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises digital transformation, innovation, and inclusive governance as pillars of national development.”
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by Hajiya Laila Barau Jibril, described the platform as a “bold statement of purpose,” acting as a digital bridge to ensure every Nigerian can access information without barriers.
The secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, performing the official unveiling on behalf of the President, noted that the platform is a strategic tool for “deepening accountability” across all government processes.
The House of Representatives member: Hon. Idris Wase, representing the speaker, lauded the move to align Nigerian governance with global best practices, noting that digital oversight is crucial to maintaining the “Federal Character” principle of fairness.
