Israeli military analyst: Hezbollah explosive drones pose serious threat

Israeli military analyst, Avi Ashkenazi said that Hezbollah’s explosive drones are deadly weapons and that the Israeli army will be forced to find a solution to them.

In an article published in the Hebrew newspaper Maariv, Ashkenazi stated that “the manoeuvre in southern Lebanon revealed a new challenge for the Israeli army,” explaining that “throughout the entire ground operation in Lebanon, Hezbollah operatives used hundreds of explosive-laden drones that operate via fiber optic cables, not via wireless or satellite communications.”

He added: “As a result, the Israeli army is facing difficulty in intercepting these drones, which has led to a number of casualties among its ranks,” emphasizing that “Hezbollah succeeded in creating a surprise on the battlefield using an old method that has undergone unique development.”

He further pointed out that drones have been used across the battlefields of Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, carrying out a range of missions from intelligence gathering and data transmission to direct attacks, including drones equipped with missiles and suicide drones carrying relatively small explosive payloads.
