Lagos to Select GIPP Internship Candidates by Merit After CBT Screening

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed that only qualified candidates will be selected for internship opportunities under its Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP), following the successful conduct of a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

The CBT, organised by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, was held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) as part of the programme’s structured selection process. A significant number of graduates participated in the exercise, which officials described as orderly and well-coordinated.

Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, commended participants for their conduct and restated the government’s commitment to expanding access to employment pathways for young people. “The Graduate Internship Placement Programme is a strategic initiative aimed at equipping graduates with practical workplace experience and improving their employability,” he said.

Ajigbotafe explained that candidates who meet the required benchmarks in the CBT will advance to the next stage of the selection process. He stressed that the exercise reflects the state’s emphasis on transparency and merit-based recruitment.

He added that successful candidates would be guaranteed placement under the programme, describing GIPP as a critical component of the state’s broader youth development and economic growth strategy.
