Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrović was on target in the final as Al Rayyan defeated Muaither SC 2-0 to lift the QSL Cup and bring an end to their long wait for silverware.
The victory secured Al Rayyan’s maiden QSL Cup title and their first major trophy since 2018, marking a significant milestone for the club.
Roger Guedes broke the deadlock late in the first half, calmly finishing after outpacing his marker to hand Al Rayyan the lead. Mitrović then doubled the advantage eight minutes into the second half, powering home a header from a free-kick to seal the win.
Muaither struggled to mount a comeback, as Al Rayyan maintained control and saw out the match comfortably.
Reacting after the triumph, Mitrović described the moment as deeply rewarding, noting the team’s hard work throughout a demanding season. He expressed optimism that the victory would serve as a springboard for future success.
The striker also highlighted the importance of ending the club’s trophy drought, stating that bringing silverware back after several years made the achievement even more special.
The QSL Cup win is Mitrović’s first title with Al Rayyan since his move from Al-Hilal, fulfilling his earlier ambition of helping the team return to winning ways.
