The senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Emmanuel Memga Udende, has appealed to armed youths to lay down their arms and give peace a chance.
Udende added that he would support any of the armed youths who denounces criminality and accepts peace to establish a business and live happily.
He stated this during his interaction with the Mbawar Community at Akpene, near Chito in Ukum local government area of Benue State.
Udende who was accompanied to the event by the member representing Ukum State Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Ezra Nyiyongo, among other stakeholders, appealed to the armed youths to embrace peace for the development of the area.
The senator revealed that he had appointed three legislative aides of Mbawar extraction and included the construction of a bridge at River Te in the 2025 and 2026 budgets.
Udende prayed that work would resume at the site as soon as the federal government releases funds.
The statement issued by senator Udende’s media aide, Jerry Iorngaem, stated, “The Senate Committee Chairman on Anti-corruption and Financial Crimes, Senator Udende called on armed youths to lay down their arms and give peace a chance, adding that he would support anyone who denounced criminality and accepted peace to establish a business and live happily,” the statement added.
