The Catholic Diocese of Awka has announced the passing of Rev. Fr. Andrew Ifele, a Nigerian priest serving in the United States.
Fr. Ifele reportedly died in his sleep on Monday. Until his death, he served as the administrator of La Santisima Trinidad in Arroyo Seco, within the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, USA.
The news was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by the Chancellor of the Awka Diocese, Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubisi.
The late cleric had a long history of service in the United States, having served since 2011 as a priest at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Questa. His service also extended to several mission churches, including Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Cerro and Sagrado Corazón in Costilla.
The Diocese stated that funeral arrangements for the late priest will be announced in due course.
