US to issue special passport design featuring Trump's face, State Department announces – report

The US State Department will begin issuing a special, limited-edition passport featuring President Donald Trump’s face in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday.

The report cited State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, who announced earlier on Tuesday that a “limited number” of passports would be released to “commemorate this historic occasion.”

“These passports will feature customized artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the same security features that make the US passport the most secure document in the world,” said Pigott.

In addition to Trump’s portrait, the passports will feature a 13-starred US flag (symbolizing the original 13 American colonies), with the stars arranged in a circle around the number 250, the FT reported.

According to the report, the passports are expected to be available for issue in July 2026 and will last 10 years, meaning they will expire seven years after Trump ends his second term in 2029.

In March 2026, the Treasury Department announced that Trump’s signature would be added to US bills, according to the report, which added that this would be the first time a sitting president has had their signature on US currency.

Trump has made several moves to add his name and likeness to aspects of US institutions and symbols, the Financial Times noted, including renaming the Kennedy Center the Trump Kennedy Center, adding his face to the country’s national park annual pass, and having banners featuring his portrait hung on various federal buildings in Washington, DC
