2027: AAC adopts Sowore as consensus presidential candidate

The African Action Congress, AAC, has adopted Omoyele Sowore as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

Kayode Babayemi, Chairman of the AAC Presidential Primary Election, said the decision shows the party’s trust in Sowore’s dedication to real democracy.

Babayemi said: “I name Omoyele Sowore as the agreed presidential candidate of the African Action Congress.

“This choice shows that the party believes in his steady leadership and his long-term dedication to fighting for a fair and truly democratic Nigeria. I truly thank all the party members, supporters, and stakeholders who came out today to stand with the vision and values of our wonderful party.

“Your strong support and constant belief help keep Omoyele Sowore and the agreed candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) going strong.”

Accepting the party’s nomination, Sowore said the AAC is the “only opposition party” that offers a real choice for Nigerians.

He said the AAC has faced various challenges and emphasized that the party does not have connections to powerful figures or corrupt politicians.

“Some people say that there was no other choice but dictatorship, but we announced a revolution in 2019,” Sowore said.
