APC Screens 98 Aspirants For Rivers Assembly Ahead Of 2027 Polls

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has screened 98 aspirants seeking the party’s ticket to contest for seats in the State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The screening exercise, which took place on Saturday and Sunday in Port Harcourt, was described as peaceful and well-coordinated.

Speaking to journalists after the exercise, the Secretary of the Rivers State Assembly Screening Committee, Tanko Yamowa, commended the aspirants for their orderly conduct throughout the process.

Yamowa said the committee had anticipated possible disruptions but was pleasantly surprised by the calm atmosphere during the exercise.

According to him, the conduct of the aspirants demonstrated unity and harmony within the APC in Rivers State.

“The aspirants conducted themselves in a very good manner,” he said.

He added, “This is not what we were expecting, but they’ve given us a surprise. We thought there could be challenges, but since yesterday and today, nobody has come here to cause any trouble. That shows the APC in Rivers State is one family.”
