Nigerian actor and movie director Bob-Manuel Udokwu has explained why he stays away from social media discussions, saying he prefers to watch events quietly rather than join the online noise.
In a post shared on Instagram, the veteran actor said social media conversations in Nigeria have become exhausting and often focus on issues that add little value.
According to him, many trending topics do not reflect the real challenges Nigerians face daily, yet they continue to dominate online spaces and consume people’s time and data.
He said constant online attacks and insults pushed him into silence, adding that meaningful conversations are now difficult to have online.
The actor said he preferred to stay quiet and simply read comments instead of joining online conversations.
However, he revealed that he would begin posting and interacting with fans more often after repeated requests from followers.
He wrote:
“Social media has become something else in Nigeria. Most times, things that have little or no relevance to the day-to-day struggles of the people go viral and consume valuable time and data from the same traumatised people!
“It baffles me! Too much dragging and trolling everywhere! I really don’t regret my choice to stay quiet and read from the sidelines while the job is done…… I am sure you would agree with me on this, aren’t you? However, due to popular demand, I will be more active in posting and engaging my fans from now on….. How una see am?”.
