BREAKING : Kwara APC Guber Primary Postponed

The gubernatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kwara State has been shifted to Thursday.

The state publicity secretary of APC, Alh Abdulwaheed Babatunde, announced this in a statement.

As at the time of filing this report, majority of the participants in the exercise were still in the various wards casting their votes, unaware of the cancellation of the exercise.

Beyond the official statement stopping the exercise, LEADERSHIP gathered that the abrupt disruption was orchestrated by certain aggrieved gubernatorial aspirants in the state.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, had on Tuesday announced Ambassador Yahaya Seriki from Kwara Central as his preferred successor.

The governor, however, said his endorsement of Seriki did not mean that other aspirants would not participate in the gubernatorial primary.

Impeccable sources told LEADERSHIP that certain aspirants who were jolted by AbdulRazaq’s choice of Seriki were behind the decision to postpone the primary to enable them restrategise and possibly support an aspirant of Kwara south origin.

LEADERSHIP’s finding showed that Seriki was leading in most of the voting centres before the exercise was halted.

The statement announcing the postponement of the gubernatorial primary reads:” This is an official notice from the Office of the State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
