Celebrities Are Not Obligated To Speak On Politics – Nasboi

Nigerian content creator, skitmaker and singer Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, known as Nasboi, has urged tolerance for celebrities who choose to stay silent on political matters.
In a post on X, Nasboi urged Nigerians to reflect on why some public figures choose to stay silent on political issues.
He used comedian Mr Macaroni as an example, noting that he was allegedly harassed after speaking out on public matters and was later mocked and insulted.
He said not everyone dares to speak publicly and that this should be respected.
He added that, just like some ordinary Nigerians avoid politics, some celebrities also choose not to engage, stressing that public figures are human and should not be treated differently.
On X, he said:
“People wey get sense, make we reason this matter. Una dey always drag celebrities for not speaking up, but make I remind una of Mr Macaroni. See how dem maltreat am just because he spoke up for everybody. Yet na still people mock am and insult am. You think say other celebrities no dey see all those things?
“No be everybody get mind to talk. You have to accept that. And make we no forget, just like some of una no dey interested in politics, na so some celebrities no like to involve politically. Celebrities are humans like you”, he added.
