Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated winners of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries in Delta State.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor described the primaries as peaceful and transparent, commending the APC leadership and party members across the state for their orderly conduct during the exercise.
He said the outcome of the direct primaries reflected the party’s internal democratic process and the confidence reposed in the candidates by grassroots members.
The Speaker also praised aspirants who participated in the primaries for maintaining civility throughout the process and urged successful candidates to begin mobilising support ahead of the general elections.
According to Guwor, candidates should focus on issue-based campaigns and work closely with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other party stakeholders to strengthen the APC’s chances in the elections.
He further appealed to aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to embrace reconciliation in the interest of party unity.“Party unity is critical ahead of the general elections. Our strength lies in working together to advance the vision of the APC in Delta State,” the statement quoted him as saying.
