Enugu APC Members Vote For Mbah As Consensus Governorship Aspirant

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State on Thursday trooped out to vote for Governor Peter Mbah as the consensus governorship aspirant of the party.

Our correspondent, who monitored the exercise in some wards, observed that the primary election was peaceful across the areas where voting took place.

Governor Mbah was adopted as a consensus aspirant after no other candidate indicated interest to contest the governorship ticket.

Party members who spoke during the exercise commended the leadership of the APC in the state for adopting a consensus arrangement, saying it contributed to the peaceful conduct of the governorship primary and other party processes in the past.

Speaking with our correspondent, a member of the working committee of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Daniel Orafu, said 100 per cent of participants supported the governor’s re-election bid.

He said all those present indicated support when asked to stand in favour of Governor Mbah, while no one stood in opposition.

According to him, the process showed overwhelming endorsement of the governor, as no aspirant emerged to challenge him.

At the time of filing this report, official results of the primary were yet to be released, although there was no opposition to the governor’s adoption as consensus candidate.
