South Africa has deployed more than 3,000 soldiers nationwide to support police as anti migrant protests continue to spread.
President Cyril Ramaphosa approved the military deployment, which began at the end of June, to help manage rising unrest and maintain order.
Thousands of people have marched in major cities in recent days. Some of the protests turned violent, with reports of looting and clashes between groups.
More than 900 people have been arrested. Charges include immigration violations, public violence, and robbery.
The protests come after months of rising tension that have forced some migrants to leave their homes and businesses due to growing hostility.
Organisers of the demonstrations say they want stricter enforcement against undocumented migrants.
Human rights groups, however, say the protests are increasing fear and violence against foreign nationals living in the country.
