Umo Eno has praised the corporate contributions of Ibom Air to sports development in Akwa Ibom State.The governor spoke during the final of a football tournament organised to mark the airline’s seventh anniversary in Uyo.
Represented by the Commissioner for Sports, Paul Bassey, Eno said Ibom Air’s investment in football, tennis, and golf reflected strong corporate citizenship. t pleases me to know that you are not only excelling in aviation but also supporting sports development in the state,” the governor said.
He noted that the airline’s sponsorship contributed to the progress of local sports teams, including Akwa United F.C. and the Akwa Ibom tennis team, which won three gold medals at the recent Niger Delta Games in Benin, Edo State. Eno also commended the airline’s operational standards, describing it as a symbol of excellence, innovation, and quality service in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
According to him, Ibom Air’s expansion into regional routes within West Africa has improved connectivity, commerce, tourism, and economic activities linked to the state. The football tournament, which lasted more than two weeks, ended with Ibom Air’s Lagos team defeating the Uyo team 3-2 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.
