Grey’s Anatomy Star Chyler Leigh Opens Up About Split From Nathan West After More Than Two Decades Together

Actress Chyler Leigh is speaking publicly for the first time about her separation from ex-husband Nathan West after more than 20 years of marriage.

During a recent appearance on the ‘Books That Changed My Life’ podcast, the Grey’s Anatomy star revealed that despite ending their relationship, she and West remain on good terms and are committed to co-parenting their three children.

The conversation arose when podcast host Chris Collins asked Leigh to reflect on a moment in her life when she realised she needed help.

“I think getting to a point where my relationship with my ex had reached a point where it was just time,” Leigh shared. “It was time to let it go. Even after such a long time. We’d been together… it would be 26 years this year.”

Although the split was difficult, Leigh explained that the two ultimately realised they were no longer aligned in what they wanted from life.

“It just hit a point where it was like, ‘Okay, what you want and what I want aren’t really lining up anymore,’” she said. “And I’d rather us be on good terms and us not harbour the resentment and the anger… all that stuff. It’s not worth it.”

Leigh also acknowledged that the strain in their relationship had become noticeable to those closest to them, including their children and extended family members.

“He went through a lot of trauma with his family. I went through a lot of trauma with my family. So we’re just perpetuating that cycle. And so it was like, ‘Okay, we have to make a choice.’”
