Lagos Taskforce Decries Recycled Allegations, Threatens Action Over Malicious Reports

LAGOS – The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) has strongly condemned the circulation of what it described as an old and mali­ciously repackaged publication aimed at tarnishing the image of the Agency and discrediting the ongoing reforms instituted within the organisation.

Reacting to a recent online publi­cation, alleging misconduct involving some operatives of the agency, the task­force described the report as a deliber­ate attempt to revive stale narratives that do not reflect the present realities, operational standards and institutional reforms that have transformed the Agen­cy in recent years.

The agency noted that while con­structive criticism remains essential in a democratic society, it is deeply dis­turbing that certain bloggers and online platforms have continued to abandon the ethics of journalism and professional­ism in pursuit of sensationalism, black­mail and traffic-driven content without proper verification of facts.

The taskforce said the publication in question was not only outdated but deliberately published at a time when the agency has continued to record no­table operational successes and public commendations in traffic management, environmental enforcement and crime suppression across Lagos State.

The agency stressed that the Lagos Taskforce of today is significantly differ­ent from what existed years ago, owing to several internal reforms, personnel retraining exercises, stricter monitoring mechanisms and disciplinary measures introduced by the Lagos State Govern­ment and the leadership of the agency.
