MACBAN Reports Killing of Nine Pastoralists in Kogi Community

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) says nine pastoralists were killed in an attack at Achele-Ika community in Ankpa Local Government Area. In a statement issued on Monday, MACBAN’s Kogi State Secretary, Suleiman Muhammed, condemned the killings and called on security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

According to the association, the attack occurred on May 21, 2026. The victims were identified as Isiaka Lawal, Larai Musa, Abdullahi Isiaka, Isah Isiaka, Saleh Isiaka, Samsiya Adamu, Asma’u Siuni, Basullube Musa, and Bello Musa.MACBAN said several injured persons are receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Ankpa.

The association described the incident as “barbaric” and warned that continued attacks on pastoral communities could heighten tensions among residents. “We condemn this act in the strongest terms and call on security agencies to immediately investigate the incident, arrest the perpetrators, and ensure justice is served,” the statement said.

MACBAN also appealed to government authorities and humanitarian organisations to provide relief materials and medical assistance to affected families.The association urged residents and members of pastoral communities to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. There was no official statement from the Kogi State Police Command at the time of filing this report.
