Angela Ayas Bako, an aspirant in the All Progressives Congress primary for the Nasarawa North Senatorial by-election, says her ambition is focused on reducing poverty through economic empowerment and investment-driven policies.
Speaking during an interview on Options FM Radio in Akwanga, Bako said her experience in the banking and capital market sectors shaped her understanding of economic development and policy impact. “I feel a deep sense in my heart to take them out of poverty,” she said.
According to her, years spent in the financial sector exposed her to gaps in economic opportunities and development outcomes affecting many residents of Nasarawa North Senatorial District. Bako said unemployment among educated youths in the district influenced her decision to seek elective office.
She also advocated increased participation of women and younger people in governance, arguing that leadership should not be limited by age or gender. “Senate is not for older men alone,” she said. The APC aspirant identified agriculture, solid minerals, and investment promotion as key sectors capable of driving economic growth in the district if properly developed.
She stressed the importance of improving infrastructure, including roads and post-harvest facilities, to attract investors and improve productivity. Bako further pledged to sustain development initiatives associated with the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki, describing her campaign as a continuation of service to the people.
