The family of Lt. Felix Ademe Isaac, a Nigerian Army officer who died during the rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State, has expressed grief over his death, describing him as the family’s “hope” and calling for support from the authorities.
Lt. Isaac, 28, was killed during the military operation that secured the release of victims abducted from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area. The Nigerian Army confirmed that security personnel suffered casualties during the operation but did not disclose the specific circumstances of his death.
Speaking to Daily Trust, the officer’s father, retired Master Warrant Officer Isaac Alabura, said the family was devastated by the loss and had hoped to see his son build a long military career.
He also said the family was not officially informed by military authorities or the Oyo State Government about the circumstances surrounding the incident, although he commended senior military officers who facilitated the return of his son’s body to Yola, Adamawa State, for burial with full military honours.
Lt. Isaac’s cousin, Tidwawa Nelson Eweh, described him as dedicated and hardworking, urging the military and the Oyo State Government to support the bereaved family and recognise his sacrifice.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde earlier paid tribute to security personnel involved in the operation, offering condolences to the families of those who lost their lives while rescuing the abducted pupils and teachers.
