The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has withdrawn an ultimatum it previously issued to the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and apologised for its earlier position.
The forum had earlier called on Yilwatda to resign within two weeks over concerns related to the conduct of the APC primaries. However, in a statement issued late Thursday and signed by its National Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the group said the ultimatum was based on misinformation and a misunderstanding of the issues involved.
According to the statement, the forum remains committed to promoting unity, stability and progress within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections. “Our call for the resignation of the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, was based on misinformation and a misunderstanding of the true situation.
Having become aware of the facts, we hereby withdraw the ultimatum and extend our apologies to the national chairman and other party leaders,” the statement said. The forum stressed that it has no intention of creating divisions within the APC and pledged its support for the Yilwatda-led National Working Committee (NWC).
It also urged party members to work together to strengthen the APC ahead of future elections. The North-Central APC Forum further reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu and the party in the 2027 general elections.
