Oyo NLC Urges Intensified Security Operations Over Ogbomoso Attack

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo State Council, has condemned the recent bandit attack and abduction incident in Ogbomoso area of Oyo State, describing it as a serious threat to peace, security and public safety in the state.

In a statement signed by its state chairman, Comrade Kayode Martins, the labour union expressed concern over the trauma and hardship inflicted on affected families, schools and surrounding communities.

The NLC described the attack as a criminal act against innocent citizens, warning that continued insecurity poses a major threat to educational stability and socio-economic development in the state.

The council sympathised with the people of Ogbomoso, the Oyo State Government, and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), following reports that teachers, pupils and other residents were among those affected by the incident.

Reaffirming its support for ongoing rescue and security operations, the NLC commended security agencies and the state government for their efforts to restore calm and secure the release of abducted victims.

The union, however, called for intensified security operations, insisting that authorities must act decisively to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.

According to the statement, the safety of workers, teachers, students and residents must remain a top priority for government at all levels.

The NLC prayed for the safe return of all abducted victims and urged lasting peace and stability across Oyo State and Nigeria.
