A National Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives aspirant for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. David Lahandu Dama, has raised concerns over the party’s internal democratic process in Plateau State. Dama made the remarks on Monday during a press conference in Jos, where he questioned the process that produced the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections.
He alleged that the party’s leadership in the state failed to conduct a transparent primary election, claiming that the candidate selection process did not reflect the principles of fairness and openness. According to him, some party members and aspirants were excluded from the process, a situation he said could affect the party’s unity and electoral prospects.
Dama described the development as a setback to internal democracy and called on the national leadership of the party to review the process and ensure compliance with the party’s constitution and relevant electoral guidelines.
He urged his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, adding that consultations with stakeholders were ongoing.The aspirant reaffirmed his commitment to the NDC, stressing that a credible and transparent process was necessary to strengthen public confidence in the party.
