Renewed Hope Ambassadors Praise Tinubu’s Northern Infrastructure Projects After Inspection Tour
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors has commended President Bola Tinubu for what it described as significant developmental strides across Northern Nigeria, following a media tour of Federal Government projects in the Northwest.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, the group said the Tinubu administration had demonstrated commitment to its campaign promises to the North through multiple infrastructure interventions at various stages of completion.
The delegation undertook an inspection tour covering key project sites from Zuba Junction in the Federal Capital Territory through Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, and Kebbi states, under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the group, the Federal Ministry of Works is currently implementing 260 Special Intervention Projects nationwide, with 48 located in the Northwest region comprising Kaduna State, Kano State, Katsina State, Jigawa State, Sokoto State, Kebbi State, and Zamfara State. It described this as the highest concentration of such projects across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
The ambassadors cited ongoing work on the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway, where sections of the road are nearing completion with modern concrete pavement and solar-powered street lighting. The 82-kilometre Section 1 from Zuba to Jere is almost finished, while Section 2 is already underway, with completion targeted for November.
In Kaduna State, the delegation inspected the long-stalled Kaduna Western Bypass, now reportedly at about 50 percent completion after more than two decades of inactivity, while also reviewing progress on the Kaduna–Kano–Katsina–Maradi Railway Line, which will extend connectivity to Niger Republic. A related flyover project linked to the railway corridor is expected to be completed by December 2026.
In Kano State, the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway was reported to be about 95 percent completed, while additional federal projects were inspected at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, including new cardiovascular and pediatric facilities as well as student hostels linked to constituency projects.
The team also visited agricultural and ecological projects, including a ₦27 billion irrigation scheme in Garko, a solar energy initiative by the Energy Commission of Nigeria, and a 10-hectare Agricultural Incubation Centre at Bayero University Kano designed to promote modern farming innovations.
In addition, they inspected the headquarters of the North West Development Commission in Kano and an ecological intervention project valued at ₦47 billion aimed at erosion control in the Jakara area.
In Jigawa State, the railway project linking Kaduna–Kano–Katsina–Maradi was described as nearly completed, while in Kebbi State, work on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway was reported to be progressing steadily, with sections showing between 16 percent and 40 percent completion depending on location.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors concluded that the scale and spread of ongoing infrastructure projects in the North reflect the Tinubu administration’s commitment to regional development, adding that critics of the government’s performance should visit project sites to verify progress firsthand.
