The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has congratulated muslims on Eid al-Kabir festival, while imploring them at the same time to be vigilant during Sallah celebrations.
The first class monarch who said this in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, in Ibadan today contended that to be alive to witness sallah celebration is a privilege that people should not take for granted.
According to him, watching one’s back entails being security-conscious of one’s environment at all times, while celebrating the exemplary life of holy Prophet Ibrahim, who offered his son, Ismail, as a sacrifice to God.
“Although the occasion calls for merriment, we need to celebrate it prayerfully and soberly, bearing in mind the challenges facing Nigeria, such as insecurity.”
Oba Ladoja, who described Eid-el-Kabir as a very spiritually significant festival in the Islamic calendar, urged muslims to use the occasion to pray for the peace, prosperity and security of Nigeria, especially with regard to the forthcoming elections.
He urged the muslims to bear in mind that hands are not equal, and as such, those who are blessed should be ready to share and care with those who are not so blessed.
The Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, who also decried the spate of banditry, especially the recent kidnapping of students at Orire, Oyo State, asked the faithful to crown the efforts of the stakeholders in getting the captive released on time.
