We Reviewed 5,000 Harassment Tweets Targeting Simi — Lawyer

Entertainment lawyer and business executive Oyinkansola Fawehinmi has opened up about the scale of online bullying directed at Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, and her husband, Adekunle Gold.

Fawehinmi, known as Foza, disclosed this during an interview on the JayOnairLive show.

According to the legal counsel, her team had to carefully review over 5,000 tweets connected to a coordinated harassment campaign aimed at destroying the singer’s image and mental health.

Foza also said that the situation required urgent legal intervention because the continuous bullying happened during a highly sensitive period when the Afrobeat star was pregnant.

“We went through over 5,000 tweets of sustained harassment. And the intention was to ensure that Simi becomes a shadow of herself. And mind you, I’m dealing with someone here who has a baby on the way. I’m not going to sit down and let you do that to my clients,” Foza said.

The lawyer differentiates between casual internet gossip and cyberbullying, stating that while defamation involves isolated lies, harassment is a dangerous, repeated pattern of abuse.

She added that such heavy online attacks are not harmless entertainment, as they can quickly spill over to threaten a celebrity’s physical safety, real-life businesses, and brand endorsement contracts.

“When things like this break out, the first thing is that all the brands you’re working with start calling you. You start having to explain yourself,” the legal practitioner noted.
