3 Passengers Dead As Warri-Itakpe Train Derails

Not less than three passengers have been confirmed dead following the derailment of the Warri–Itakpe Train Service on Monday.
Naijaonpoint reports that the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed the derailment, adding that emergency response teams and relevant authorities are at the scene, attending to the situation and providing necessary assistance.
The train accident occurred at Agbor along the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) corridor.
The NRC said the situation is being monitored and further updates will be provided.
“The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirms that an incident involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) occurred today.
“Emergency response teams and relevant authorities are currently at the scene attending to the situation and providing necessary assistance,” the statement signed by its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Opeifa, partly read.
“The Corporation is closely monitoring developments and a detailed statement will be issued as soon as more information becomes available,” the NRC said in an initial statement signed by its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Opeifa.
However, an update on the statement confirmed that three people have been confirmed dead.
