AFCSC Commences Land Forces Operations Seminar On Intelligence Synergy For Joint Operations

The Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, commenced the 2026 Land Forces Operations Seminar for students of Senior Course 48 at the Farouk Yahaya Auditorium on 29 June, 2026.
The two-day seminar, scheduled to be held from 29 to 30 June 2026, is designed to enhance participants’ understanding of intelligence cooperation in addressing contemporary security challenges within a joint operational environment.
The seminar, themed “Strengthening Intelligence Synergy for Effective Joint Operations,” brings together senior military officers, representatives of security and paramilitary agencies, and other stakeholders to examine practical strategies for improving intelligence sharing, inter-agency collaboration, and operational effectiveness.
Delivering the welcome address, the Director, Department of Land Warfare, Brigadier General BO Omopariola, described the seminar as an integral component of the Senior Course curriculum.
He noted that the programme provides a strategic platform for intellectual discourse, professional experience sharing, and the development of actionable recommendations to strengthen intelligence coordination and joint operations.
He added that the seminar aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy of building a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient Nigerian Army capable of operating effectively in joint and multi-agency environments.
Declaring the seminar open, the Special Guest of Honour and Commander Infantry Corps, Major General GM Mutkut, OFR, commended the College for sustaining a platform that promotes strategic thinking and professional military education.
He observed that contemporary security threats, including terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, transnational organised crime, cyber threats, and economic sabotage, require enhanced intelligence synergy and closer collaboration among the Armed Forces of Nigeria, intelligence organisations, law enforcement agencies,and other critical stakeholders.
Major General Mutkut emphasised that effective joint operations depend on mutual trust, interoperability, intelligence sharing, and coordinated action, stressing that institutional collaboration must extend from the strategic to the tactical levels.
He urged participants to critically examine lessons from previous operations, identify gaps in intelligence coordination, and propose innovative, practical solutions capable of improving operational effectiveness across all theatres.
The seminar will feature a keynote lecture by the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Major General AE Abubakar, alongside interactive sessions and contributions from experienced senior officers and resource persons.
Participants are expected to examine emerging security challenges and develop practical recommendations for strengthening intelligence integration and enhancing joint operational planning.
The seminar is expected to deepen participants’ understanding of contemporary security dynamics while providing valuable insights drawn from the operational experiences of seasoned military professionals. It is also anticipated to generate practical recommendations that will further strengthen intelligence cooperation, institutional partnerships, and mission success in joint operational environments.
