Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has disclosed that security operatives recently uncovered and foiled an alleged plot to b%mb the Ondo State Government House, describing it as one of several successful security interventions carried out in the state.

Speaking during an interview on a television programme on Wednesday, the governor revealed that intelligence reports received approximately three to four months ago flagged suspicious activities involving a group of youths allegedly making plans to att@ck the seat of government.

He explained that the suspects were initially lodged in a hotel before relocating to a rented apartment, where security operatives later moved in and recovered materials and equipment believed to be connected to the planned operation.

Following the intelligence, police and the Amotekun Corps jointly raided the location, arrested the suspects, and they remain in custody as investigations continue.

Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that the ongoing investigation is focused on establishing the motive behind the alleged plot, adding that the incident further highlights the importance of robust intelligence gathering and seamless collaboration among security agencies.

He stressed that much of what government does in the area of security is not visible to the general public, and that it is only when there is a breakdown that questions arise about whether enough is being done.

The governor also revealed that South-West governors are deepening their regional security cooperation through intelligence sharing and joint initiatives, including the Amotekun Corps, emphasising that the region’s leaders are in constant dialogue and working together behind the scenes.

Aiyedatiwa additionally expressed satisfaction over the conviction of four individuals connected to the June 2022 att@ck on St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo, describing the judgment as a significant victory for justice, the rule of law, and for all those who were affected by the tragic incident.
