Alimosho stakeholders reject alleged mandate swap, reaffirm support for Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba

Leaders, Monarchs, CDCs, CDAs, Councillors and Youth Groups Call for Respect of Primary Election Outcome

Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho Federal Constituency have strongly opposed what they described as an attempt to overturn the outcome of the party’s House of Representatives primary election, insisting that the mandate freely given to Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, popularly known as Mayor KK, must be respected.

The position was made known at a well-attended stakeholders’ gathering held at the Iceland Event Centre, Egbeda, where party elders, traditional rulers, councillors, youth leaders, Community Development Committees (CDC), Community Development Associations (CDA), religious leaders, and grassroots mobilisers converged to express their concerns over developments following the APC primary election.

According to the stakeholders, Hon. Ayuba secured a decisive victory during the primary election, polling 37,021 votes, while his closest challenger, Hon. Olabisi Adebajo, popularly known as Abisco, garnered 2,793 votes.

The gathering described any attempt to alter or substitute the outcome of the primary election as a violation of democratic principles and a disregard for the collective decision of party members across the constituency.

“No to Imposition”

Speakers at the event maintained that Alimosho, as the largest voting constituency in Lagos State, has clearly expressed its preference and should not be subjected to what they termed political imposition.

They warned that disregarding the outcome of the primaries could create unnecessary tension within the party and weaken the confidence of loyal party members who participated in the democratic process.

Several stakeholders recalled that Hon. Ayuba had earlier emerged as the consensus candidate at a stakeholders’ meeting reportedly facilitated by key party leaders before the primary election, a position later reinforced by his overwhelming victory at the polls.

Monarchs Back Democratic Process

Traditional rulers from across the constituency also lent their voices to the appeal for fairness and justice.

Among those present were the Onikotun of Ikotunland, Oba Azeez Gbadabiu Asiwaju; the Oba of Egbe Land, Oba Ashimiyu Atanda Adebowale; and the Alagodo of Agodo, Oba Mudasiru Alade Odejobi, alongside other respected monarchs.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, the Onikotun of Ikotunland questioned the rationale behind moves to deny Hon. Ayuba the ticket despite his overwhelming victory and urged party leaders to uphold the principles of equity, justice, and fair play.

Appeal to President Tinubu and APC Leadership

The stakeholders appealed to the President and APC National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to intervene in the matter and ensure that the integrity of the party’s internal democratic process is preserved.

They also called on Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the national leadership of the APC to take steps toward resolving the dispute in a manner that reflects the wishes of party members and promotes unity within the party.

Stakeholders Demand Justice

In separate remarks, APC leaders and grassroots representatives emphasised that the issue transcends individual ambition and concerns the credibility of the party’s democratic processes.

They argued that respecting the outcome of the primary election would strengthen confidence among party members and reinforce the APC’s reputation as a party committed to fairness, transparency, and internal democracy.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution rejecting any alteration of the primary election results and demanding the restoration and recognition of the mandate secured by Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba.

Participants vowed to remain united and continue pursuing all legitimate and democratic avenues to ensure that the will of APC members in Alimosho Federal Constituency is respected.

“As stakeholders of the APC in Alimosho, we stand firmly for justice, fairness, and the sanctity of the ballot. The voice of the people must prevail,” the communiqué issued at the end of the gathering stated.
