The leadership of the Niger State branch of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) is set to partner with the member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency, Saidu Musa Abdullahi, for the proposed Abubakar Gimba National Literary Colloquium.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the initiative is designed to celebrate the enduring legacy of the late literary icon, Abubakar Gimba, who was one of the founding fathers of ANA.
The state ANA chairman Al-Mamun Mallam who paid an advocacy and partnership visit to the lawmaker to seek support for the proposed National Literary Colloquium, explained that the association placed a high premium on credibility when selecting partners.
Al-Mamun Mahmud Mallam described Hon. Saidu as a widely respected individual whose resilience and commitment to impacting lives have earned him admiration across his constituency and beyond.
“We have seen the tremendous work you have done in bringing impactful projects to your constituency and in transforming lives. That is highly commendable,” Al-Mamun said.
He said other initiatives underway that the member promised to support included Bago Book Challenge, a planned statewide intercollegiate intellectual competition for secondary school students of Niger State, as well as a Reading Campaign for primary school pupils that involves reading and comprehension competition for kids.
In his response, Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi welcomed the initiatives and expressed profound admiration for the late literary giant.
He described the proposed colloquium as a noble and timely intervention that would preserve Gimba’s legacy for future generations while inspiring excellence, creativity, and intellectual engagement among young Nigerians.
Hon. Saidu therefore pledged his full support towards the success of the Colloquium, and also promised to advocate for the involvement of the Niger State Government, the Governor and relevant national institutions to ensure that the programme received the recognition it deserves.
