Anambra Governor Soludo Picks Side in 2027 Presidential Race, Shuns Obi

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential race.
The move means he has effectively shunned the 2027 presidential ambition of one of his predecessors and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Peter Obi, who hails from the same state.
Speaking during an interactive session with the women coordinators of the “City Boy Movement”—a pro-Tinubu political organisation—at the Light House in Awka, Soludo urged women and youth across the South-East to intensify mobilization efforts for the President.
Reflecting on the 2023 elections, Soludo noted that President Tinubu secured victory despite minimal support from the South-East, warning that the region must reshape its approach ahead of the next electoral cycle.
“In politics, people do not get what they deserve; they get what they bargain for,” Soludo stated, urging the Igbo people to be more strategic in their calculations and avoid wasting their votes.
“In a democracy, the principal currency for that bargain is the vote. You should be active participants in shaping the narratives. You should not wait for somebody to build your future for you.”
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the governor’s daughter, Adaora Soludo, serves as the Anambra State Women Coordinator for the City Boy Movement.
