Victor Asije has been bestowed with the United Nations Association of Africa (UNAA) outstanding Sustainable Development Partner Award of Chartered Fellowship Award of Global Sustainability Ambassador.
Asije’s certificate of Chartered Fellowship Award and appointment as Global Sustainability Ambassador, sealed and signed by the Office of UNAA President-General in Houston, Texas,reads in part, “Chartered Fellowship Award presented to Ambassador Victor Asije, who is hereby appointed as Global Sustainability Ambassador.
“He is qualified to all rights and privileges pertaining the organisation, and also expected to function as a leader and a catalyst for sustainable development in any part of the world, with regards to international cooperation for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) and human welfare.”
Asije expressed optimism that his latest appointment would enable him engage, and interface with international development cooperation organisations, in favourably advancing, and balancing economic growth, social inclusion, and promoting environmental harmony, globally.
According to the Global Sustainability Ambassador, sustainable development must be sustained to ensure that the mistakes of the past are not repeated, and that the present needs do not rob the future generations of their needs.
“Let me say that the whole essence of sustainable development is, and should be, to make the world a much better, livable, and peaceable place for the present billions of inhabitants on earth, and the next generations.
“What this means, therefore, is that more of us, must, selflessly, purposefully, and meaningfully roll up our sleeves to concernedly, and commitedly do what we have been called to do.
“The world currently needs fewer people with the mindset of, what is in it for me and my family. Yes, the world really, urgently, needs more selfless doers, and not just talkers or self-aggrandisers.
The Ambassador said that there was still a lot to be done in fighting against poverty, hunger, provision of quality healthcare, education, clean water and sanitation.
Asije also said that most peoples of the world were still in need of affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation, and infrastructure.
The Global Sustainability Ambassador added that there was the need to tackle inequalities, ensure sustainable cities and communities, responsible production and consumption.
“The world must also begin to take the urgently needed actions to bringing issues of climate action, life below water, life on land, peace, justice, and strong instructions, and partnership to the front burner.
“And these are what the United Nations Association of Africa(UNAA) has called me to be doing,as it’s contributions to making the world a much better place for all humanity,” Asije said.
