Bauchi police arrest three over alleged murder, robbery in Alkaleri

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged murder and robbery of a resident in Gwaram Town, Alkaleri Local Government Area, recovering a motorcycle believed to belong to the deceased.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, operatives attached to the Alkaleri Division arrested one of the suspects, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, popularly known as “Jijji”, 25, on June 19, 2026, after he was allegedly found in possession of the victim’s motorcycle.

The police said the arrest followed a report lodged at the division on March 7, 2026, concerning a case of culpable homicide and suspected armed robbery in the community.

During interrogation, Umar allegedly implicated two other suspects identified as Usman M. Gidado, 45, and Danladi Yakubu, also known as “Pagaj”, 35, both residents of Gwaram Town.

“Acting covertly on the report made at Alkaleri Division on 7th March, 2026, one of the suspects, Alhaji Muhammad Umar alias ‘Jijji’, was arrested on 19th June, 2026 while in possession of a motorcycle belonging to a deceased victim,” the statement said.

The command added that detectives subsequently carried out a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of the two additional suspects and the recovery of the motorcycle as an exhibit.

“All three suspects and the recovered exhibit have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet and thorough investigation, after which they will be charged to court,” Habib stated.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their diligence and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating violent crimes.

“The Command remains resolute in its commitment to fighting violent crime and ensuring justice for victims at all times,” the commissioner said.
