Davido Demands Release Of Kidnapped Oyo Students, Teachers At World Cup Concert

Afrobeats superstar Davido used his performance at the FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles to draw global attention to the abduction of 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers in Oyo State.
The singer appeared on stage wearing a custom jacket inscribed with the names of the victims and the message “BRING THEM HOME” boldly written across the back. The students and teachers were recently abducted by bandits from Community High School in Ahoro-Esinele, located in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Before his musical performance, Davido paid a brief tribute to the tragedy for the international audience. He explained that the names on his jacket represented the captives, noting with sadness that the names printed in red signified victims who had tragically lost their lives while in captivity.
The incident has generated widespread public outrage and national concern across Nigeria, intensified by distress messages released by the school’s principal, Mrs. Alamu, regarding the harsh conditions the hostages are facing.
