DTHA 2027: Ogor Tony-Obuh Emerges NDC Candidate For Ika South, Wins With Landslide Victory

Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh, wife of the late Delta State gubernatorial aspirant, Sir Tony Obuh, has secured the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket to contest for the Ika South State House of Assembly seat in the 2027 general elections.

Daily Independent learnt this from Mrs Ogor Tony-Obuh in a telephone conversation with our reporter today, being on Monday, June 1, 2026, as she shared the outcome of the NDC party’s primaries held recently, May 29, at the NDC Secretariat at Agbor in Ika South LGA of Delta State, as she emerged victorious at the NDC election.

The primary was described by observers as transparent and competitive. Tony-Obuh defeated her closest rivals by a wide margin, polling 287 votes. Mr. Oriehi Destiny scored 101 votes, Mr. Eugene Orewa 40 votes, and Mr. Kennedy Oyeason 32 votes.

In her words: “In my acceptance remarks after I emerged as the winner of the NDC party’s Primaries for Ika South State Constituency, I had expressed gratitude to party faithfuls for their support. I’m fully prepared to strengthen and grow the party ahead of the general elections, and pledged to provide a strong, formidable, and compassionate voice for Ika South constituency in the legislature”.

“The massive support from our party members is a testament to our shared vision for progress,” Tony-Obuh. I am deeply confident that this incredible momentum will be replicated when we head to the polls for the main election, and when I am officially elected to the Delta State House of Assembly in 2027.”

“A prominent party stakeholder, Mr. Paul Etumudor, had also commended the outcome of the primary. He described me as the best candidate for the NDC, cited my proven administrative capacity, deep roots in the community, and legacy of compassionate leadership”.

“Residents of Agbor and party stakeholders are awaiting the formal publication of the results by the National Working Committee. Independent observers on the ground noted that the entire process was peaceful, orderly, and free of the rancor that often characterizes local primaries”.

“The victory positions me to carry the NDC flag in the Delta State House of Assembly election for Ika South State Constituency as the party seeks to expand its presence across Delta come this 2027 general elections”.
