ORIIRE: LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Discharges 31 Rescued Pupils, Keeps Eight For Further Medical Care

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, has discharged 31 of the rescued pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State after medical assessments showed they were fit to return to their families.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital disclosed this on Tuesday, adding that eight other pupils would remain in the hospital for further observation and specialised medical care.
According to the CMD, the decision to retain the eight pupils was to ensure they receive adequate treatment and achieve full recovery before being reunited with their families.
He explained that the comprehensive medical evaluation conducted on the children revealed that one of the pupils had a congenital heart condition, which was previously unknown to the child’s parents.
“The child has a hole in the heart, which was discovered during our medical evaluation. There is no cause for alarm because the child is stable and responding well.
“We have commenced the necessary medical procedures and will formally notify the Oyo State Government to facilitate the next phase of treatment,” he said.
The CMD noted that the discharge of the 31 pupils marked a significant step in the recovery process of the rescued children, while assuring that the remaining pupils would continue to receive professional medical attention until they are certified fit to return home.
He added that the hospital would continue to monitor the physical and psychological well-being of all the rescued victims as part of a comprehensive post-rescue rehabilitation programme.
The pupils were among those rescued after spending weeks in captivity following their abduction from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The Oyo State Government had earlier stated that the rescued pupils and teachers would undergo medical and psychological assessments to ensure their health and proper reintegration with their families.
