The Edo State Government has demolished a building linked to alleged cult and ritual practices in Uromi, located in the Esan North-East Local Government Area, while sealing off another suspected property in an intensified clampdown on crime.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Patrick Ebojele, media aide to Governor Monday Okpebholo, who explained that the exercise was part of “Operation Flush Out Kidn@ppers and Cultists.”
He noted that the operation was jointly executed by the Edo State Security Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies, all working under the oversight of senior security officials attached to the governor.
John Izegaegbe, Secretary of the Edo State Security Squad, said the action was triggered by intelligence reports and on-ground investigations conducted in the area.
He disclosed that one of the affected structures in Ebhoijie-Uromi was connected to a troubling case uncovered in June.
He explained that the team acted on the directive of Governor Okpebholo, and upon arrival, discovered that the building was tied to a suspected ritual and homicide case.
He further revealed that medical findings showed the body discovered inside the apartment, identified as that of a gatekeeper named Mildah Dalandi, had been decomposing for roughly a month before it was found.
The state government maintained that investigations into the matter are still in progress, assuring residents that the broader effort to dismantle criminal networks within communities would be sustained.
